Wigan's young reserve side earned another well fought point, as an experienced line up drew 1-1 at home to Wolves on Wednesday night.

Latics were unlucky not to have taken all three points but the draw moves them 4 points above Bolton at the foot of the table ahead of their vital clash next week.

Wolves also fielded a strong side that included first team players Jody Craddock, George Ndah, Vio Ganea and ex- Celtic captain Jackie McNamara.

Taylor: Played full 90 minutes on his return
Latics started the game well and 6 minutes in Swede Andreas Johansson had a great chance to score, heading over from a David Connolly cross.

Wolves soon took advantage and after 13 minutes George Ndah came bursting into the area, but despite Henchoz's best effort, the ball was deflected into the path of Ganea who effortlessly side footed into the open net to to open the scoring.

Wigan responded brilliantly. Good work on the wing from David Thompson set up Andreas Johansson to smash the ball home from 8 yards out, just five minutes after conceding.

Latics continued to dictate the game and Thompson went close to giving Wigan the lead, volleying the ball just over. Then minutes later he hit a quality free-kick that narrowly edged over Ikeme's goal before half time.

Wigan started the second half brightest with Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme saving at the feet of Johansson soon after the restart.

Latics began to turn the screw and dominate a lackluster Wolves side. 50 minutes in David Connolly curled a shot inches wide and seconds later Ikeme touched over a close range shot from on-loan winger Reto Ziegler.

Wolves had a chance to take a shock lead but for Wigan keeper Mike Pollitt. First came a powerful drive from Wolves' Daniel Jones that Pollitt saved at his near post. And then from the resulting corner Stephen Gleeson's low shot forced a superb diving save from the Wigan keeper.

Connolly had a late chance to seal the victory for Latics. He ran from midfield beating two men before sidestepping hte keeper to leave an open net, however his shot was headed off the line by Wolves defender Martin Riley to ensure his side a point.
