Johansson: Continues to impress in reserves
Johansson, David Wright and Tomasz Cywka all featured as Paul Jewell looked to give match fitness to some of the squad and improve competition amongst the ranks.

Andrew Webster was also in the side and had another chance to impress before his debut against City on Saturday. However United dominated the game and within 9 minutes they had opened the scoring. Reds striker Michael Barnes ran down the wing before whipping in a ball which deflected off Webster into his own net, giving the Scot his second own goal in three games.

Wigan defender valiantly but United's frontline were in superb form. Aaron Burns got his first with a good shot from the edge of the box before a Todorov strike gave Latics some hope.

However the result was put beyond doubt after Barnes completed his hat-trick and Burns got a second putting United 5-1 ahead as the home fans demonstrated against the Glazer family in front of the MUTV cameras.

Latics tried their best to pursue the game but hope had subsided. Late on Andreas Johansson managed to tighten the scoreline to 5-2 in what was nothing more than a consolation in a comfortable victory for Brian McClair's side.

The reserves look to consolidate their league position when they face Liverpool on Wednesday 1st November at Robin Park. Kick off 7.30 pm.
