From the Stands

A big improvement on Sunderland, but that isn't saying much. A few of the
players are looking complacent to me, but maybe I'm just being fussy.

John Filan impressed me in goal again, and I think Paul Scharner and Arjan
De Zeeuw are forming a great partnership at the heart of our defence.

It was nice to see Wigan born Lee Croft come on for City and do pretty
much nothing apart from gift us a corner, and give us plenty of goalkicks!

The result is fantastic and keeps the European Dream very much alive. How
it would be lovely to clinch a European spot at Highbury!

Tom Fletcher

I hoped for an improved performance to the one i witnessed at Sunderland, and i got that in the second half.

The first half was not as bad as Sunderland but was still not up to our usually high standards, as we missed alot of great chances. Gary Teale had the best chance but hit his shot weakly and Mchulloch also missed a sitter, as did Roberts in injury time

But those misses meant nothing as Lee Mchulloch rose to head home from a rare good Jimmy Bullard corner. It was a victory we needed to keep our European hopes alive and it was good to end City's hopes in the process!

Now lets end West Hams once and for all!

Sean Perkins

I don't care about the relatively poor performance, it was a vital three points and two away 1-0 victories, especially when palying poor, is a sign of a good team

I was very happy to see Mchulloch score again as i think he is one of our key players, and when we play with him in the side we look alot more balanced. The defence also stood strong and got our second clean sheet in two games, which is always a good thing

We next play another two of our European rivals, and if we can win them, then i believe nothing can stop us from getting European football!

From a City point of view the game was a massive let down for us as we showed no fight, but with the pending 1/4 final coming you see the players minds were elsewhere, but thats not taking anything away from Wigan who have a done the Premiership proud this season and look a very organized workman like side, who look like they enjoying playing with eachother, your front two looked very dangerous and will cause any side problems and overall have deserved your double over us this season.

Ben Collins

I thought Pearce made too many changes. The players he put out hadn't played together for months, if at all, and it showed. As always, your guys stuck to the job, got your goal and got a deserved win. I've said all season the difference between you guys and Bolton is that you get results by actually playing some

Pearce made a lot of changes for the game , for various reasons, and it obviously worked in Wigans favour, as most of us suspected it would.

On the game itself, i thought that City never really got into gear , because of all the changes, and personally I thought it was our worst home performance of the season ...... we were a total shambles , in every department failing miserably to really test Filan, in the Wigan goal.

Wigan , for their part , dealt pretty comfortably with the few City attacks, and despite not being at their best either, were more methodical and more organised than City.

Wigan scored a well worked goal from the corner, although many City fans fault David James for both conceding the corner, and not coming off his line to collect it.

Finally ,I felt Wigan just about deserved the win, and City can have few complaints in a game where they basically created next to nothing ..... on a personal note ,I thought the Wigan fans did themselves proud in the stands too , although for us it was definetely a day to forget, and to be honest our players looked as though their minds were elsewhere.
