From the Stands

Last nights game was far from anything like the 4-0 defeats Wigan have suffered at the hands of Manchester United this season. The Latics completely outplayed their more illustrious rivals, and the harshness of this latest defeat has not gone unoticed by the Latics fans.

As the lad's walked out, a good performance would have seen me happy. But it didn't happen! A select group of United fans disrespected the minutes silence (RIP Lee Ellis). The matchstarted off and was dominated by Latics and if Teale had put away his sitter we could have been well on course for victory. So the 'great' United tried to rely on a biased ref and Ronaldo throwing himself to the ground everywhere. I can't believe he didn't even get booked for the amount of gobbin' off he did to the ref!

Half time saw us cruising but wishing we had put one of our many chances away.

We didn't playas well in the second half but we were still the better team and more than deserved to go ahead when Scharner tapped in from close range. We defended well despite United pressing hard for an equaliser, and we hit them well on the break. But Nistelrooy came on as a sub for the inneffective Park and his only contribution to the game, a shot that was badly off target managed to gind Ronaldo who slotted it in (god i hate him!) And then in the dying minutes, a shot that rebounded off the crossbar went in off Chimbonda who was trying to keep it out, therefore handing United Victory, a happy lad i am not!

I'm gutted that we lost, I think we can take a lot from the performance. Although United won, I don't think they had the best of the game. The Wigan players really wanted to win and dominated in my opinion.

The fight and committment from the players was second to none and I thought Scharner had Rooney in his pocket, even if he did go walk abouts once or twice!

If the performance against Sunderland is as good as that we'll win 5-0. Up the Latics!

What a difference a week makes , last night i was once again proud of my club, to lift themselves up after cardiff and to put in a perfomance i witnessed last night once again shows the ability of Paul Jewell's man management!

Scharners appointment at the back for me was the major difference and our ability to keep the ball caused them loads of problems, it was great to see them all arguing with themselves and we know the final result but deep down we can be proud of our performance, great night once again at jjb

Oh, man of match and gold medal goes to ronaldo 5.9 5.9 5.9 6.0 5.9 6.0 5.9 5.9...

And of course, what was the view of a United fan?

As a United fan, i left the JJB happy with three points but knowing that Wigan were the better team on the day. It was unlikely that United would win 4-0 yet again, but the two teams looked completely different to that of the Cup Final the Sunday before.

Our possession and passing was really poor in the first half and it was only until Van Nistelrooy was introduced when United began to take a hold of the game.

I felt sorry for Chimbonda and Wigan after a great game, but i was pleased we took our chances and can now begin to pull away from Liverpool in second place.
