The Latics were watched by 10,546 against local rivals Blackpool in the 1-1 draw. Meanwhile the following day the Warriors attracted just 3,790.

The town is turning BLUE??

Lee Ashcroft was released and you have to agree that this has been coming. Ashy has made just one appearance this season.

Another face who could soon leave perminantly is Ged Brannan who will hopefully get a new club in Dunfermline to save us from releasing him!

The one-time England Under-21 international has been out on loan to Port Vale and Huddersfield Town already this season, making four appearances for both clubs.

Liddell: Penalty Appeal
After the Latics 1-1 draw with Blackpool Jewell refused to blame the strikers and did not lay the blame on the referee's doorstep either after he failed to spot Hendry's trip on Andy Liddell deep into stoppage time.

But Jewell said: "We had good chances but just didn't take them and the only thing that disappointed me was the result.

"I won't criticise the players when they give effort and show determination and I think the reaction of the fans at the end will bear that out.

"We should be making better of the chances that we are creating but I think that there are 22 other clubs in this division that would swap places with us."

When asked about his strikers missing chances PJ said: "I'm not going to single players out because no-one misses chances on purpose," he told the club's official website. "We played as well as we have done in the first half for a long time but we needed that second goal, although it wasn't to be.

"That's football, it happens to the best players in the world. You ask (Liverpool coach) Phil Thompson how many (Michael) Owen missed."

In other news, many rugby fans are visitng the toilet for number two's much more frequently.

Rumours are rife that should the Latics reach the Premiership then the "fatter" half of the town will have to find a new home with the Latics having sole occupancy of the JJB Stadium.

It is rumoured that both Orell and the Warriors would be built a smaller stadium out of the way as the minority sport dwindles into non-existence.

Of course Maurice Lindsey squashed these rumours, but we all know its true!

He said: "These rumours are pure nonsense."
